Gratitude is a feeling of appreciation for what one has in their life. It is an appreciation for things independent of its monetary worth. The Oxford Dictionary describes gratitude as “the quality or condition of being thankful; the appreciation of an inclination to return kindness.” The word is derived from the Latin word “gratia” which means favor and “ gratus” which means pleasing. Components of Gratitude Gratitude has two components. First, feeling of appreciation. You identify that something is valuable to you whether or not it has monetary value. It means acknowledging the goodness in one’s life. The second component of gratitude is the source of gratitude. The source lies outside ourselves.
